UK best BIM practice to Australian Construction Industry

To take views of government agencies and business in Australia, the head of British Government BIM task force met them and told about the impact Building Information Modeling (BIM) in transforming the way of planning, designing, building and maintaining of large projects in United Kingdom.

Mark Bew is introduced by UKTI in partnership with Aurecon and BuildSmart. Mark Bew meted with a large range of people in construction sector in Perth, Melbourne, Adlaide, Sydney and Canberra. Large projects which successfully apply building information modeling practices are observed to experience many benefits as compared to projects which do not apply these practices.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been an integral part of United Kingdom’s Government strategies for developing of more efficient construction division since 2011. Projects which apply BIM techniques are shown to save 20% initial costs and about 50% green house gas emissions. Other benefits are also observed which are related to supply chain management and asset management.

Project owners and clients who had shown a huge interest in Building Information Modeling and who recognize the benefits and advantages of flagging up local market obstacles, hindrances and challenges, met Bew. To take more insights into the experience of United Kingdom and to realize and acknowledge the ways in which Building Information Modeling practices are held successfully in Australia, representatives of government sector and Industrial sector have planned to visit United Kingdom later in this year.
