One World Trade Center - The Most Costly Skyscraper
Facts and figures which are recently revealed have exposed that the one world trade center is designated to be the world’s most costly skyscraper in history. The cost on one world trade centre is more than twice of the cost on world’s tallest building.
One world trade centre at the ground zero of New York has a price tag for 3.9 billion dollars. Emporis which is a building analyst in Hamburg, Germany has reported these figures in the list of top ten costliest high rises in history complied by him. The one world trade centre is a 541 meter high tower. This tower officially opened in last month.
The report by Emporis exposes that the one world trade centre stands as the first and only tall building in the history to cost more than 2 billion dollars. Actually the building has cost almost a double of this amount. Second place is occupied by two buildings which are Palazo in Las Vegas and Renzo Piano’s the Shard. Palazo in Las Vegas was completed in 2007 by HKS architects whereas Renzo Piano’s the Shard is a 300 meter tower and was completed in 2013. Both of these buildings cost 1.9 billion dollars.

Burj Khalifa which stands as the currently tallest building in the world makes its place as fifth most costly building with a worth of 1.5 billion dollars. Burj khalifa is 828 meters in height. The price spent on Burj Khalifa is equal to the price of MAD’s Horseshoe shaped hotel in China. Some other projects which are able to make into top ten lists include Herzog & de Meuron’s Elbphilharmonie concert hall and Toyo ito’s building. The concert hall is not completed yet and has already cost over 1 billion dollars. Toyo ito’s building is a CapitaGreen building in Singapore which is 242 meters in height.
Emporis mentioned that the high costs of skyscrapers are due to the nature of buildings. The plans of some buildings depict that the building will cost high because it has to meet the latest environmental standards. The cost of other buildings is increased during construction sometimes due to unforeseen reasons.
