Recognition of Architect Credentials: Agreement Signed By Us, Canada And Mexico

United States, Canada and Mexico signed an agreement by which North American architects will be able to work across the borders. Architectural regulatory authorities in the above mentioned countries have decided to recognize the architect credentials across the borders. The signing of this tri-national agreement is reported by US National Council of Architectural Registration Board, Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities and Federacion de Colegios de Arquitectos de la Republica Mexicana.

The agreement is made after almost a decade of discussions and negotiations for bringing the top architectural credentials with cross border recognition. A press release by signing boards mentioned that the agreement refers to bringing the cross border architect recognition from concept to reality and is strengthened by North American Free Trade Agreement. In terms of agreement, Qualified and expert architects will be presented with the credentials to work across the border. These credentials will lead to s supply of license for architectural practices if the architects satisfy the requirements of agreements.

Following special education and work should be qualified by architects in order to satisfy the demands of agreement

• Architect should have a professional degree from a reputable institute that is recognized by respective architectural boards in US, Canada and Mexico

• Architect should have at least 10 year experience in home jurisdiction

• Architect should have a proof provided by local regulatory authority of home jurisdiction and experience that he/ she stands good

• To practice architecture in other country, the architects should have knowledge about codes and laws which are used in architecture

• Architect should practice architecture in a responsible and comprehensive manner and is obliged to submit a project which defines his/ her competitive nature

• Should complete and interview in host country which is conducted in foreign language.
