Storage of Cement Tips – Learn How to Store Cement Bags Properly
Cement absorb moisture when it is exposed to atmosphere resulting in the formation of granules or looms due to chemical reaction and losses its strength. Hence Cement has to be stored properly to maintain its freshness and strength. Cement Bags shall be staged on the wooden plank in such a way as to keep them above the floor to a height of 6 to 8 Inches.

A gap of minimum 1 Feet shall be left all around between the exceeding walls and staged bags. There shall be a minimum gap of 2 feet between the top of the stag and the ceiling. The height of the each staged shall not more than 10 bags to prevent of lumping up under pressure.
These soft lumps can be made into powder by rolling the bags or by climbing the lumps between the fingers before use. In Stages more than 8 bags high, the cement bags shall be arranged alternatively lengthwise and width-wise, header and stretcher fashion in order to avoid toppling of bags.
During the Monsoon or when it is expected to stove for a unusually longer period. The Stags shall be completely covered by tarpaulin or polythene sheets. In case of temporary storage at site, stage the cement bag on the tarpaulin spread on the ground at a elevated place, It should be protected from splashy water or water drops from near by work area. At the end of days work it should be covered with Tarpaulin.
Tips for Storage of cement
Storage the cement in such a way that it is neither exposed nor comes in contact with moisture.
Always use cement on “First in First out” basis.
Do not store the cement for longer period as it loses strength in proportion to the period of storage.
Always cover the cement bags either with tarpaulin or polythene sheet at the end of the day’s work.
